See Jordan Alexander’s Intuitive Nighttime Skincare Routine

Gossip Girl actress Jordan Alexander is a big believer in skincare from the inside out. “I feel like when I treat my body well, my skin treats me well,” she says. “Basically anything that’s good for your body is also gonna be good for your skin.”

Alexander takes a balanced, intuitive approach to skincare. She’s not a stickler about things like taking all her makeup off before bed—she’s admittedly guilty of the occasional overnight mascara and lipstick—and aside from the basics like moisturizer and cleansing, she tends to customize her regimen to the specific needs of her skin on any given day. “I’m always going to wash my face and put on moisturizer, but when it comes to the exfoliators and the toners and stuff, sometimes I like to just feel it out and sense what my body is telling me,” she says.

Acknowledging these bodily rhythms also means accepting the occasional breakout, and tackling it gracefully when it inevitably occurs. “There’s a natural flow to skin so you’re just bound to get some blemishes sometimes,” she says.

On this Go to Bed With Me episode, the actress shares a sample version of her intuitive nighttime routine. Shop her skincare below, and read on for highlights.

Alexander begins her routine with a thorough makeup removal using Almay’s Biodegradable Makeup Remover Pads. Not only are the pads fully biodegradable, but they’re also super gentle. Next, she goes in for a thorough cleanse — or two. She say she’s a particular fan of Innisfree’s Pore Clearing Facial Foam because it contains volcanic clusters, which are good for clearing out pores, diminishing the look of scars, and treating acne. Sometimes, she’ll sing the full ABC’s to give the product time to soak in and “do what it’s supposed to do.” She finishes off the cleanse by patting down with a bamboo towel, a material she likes because it guarantee cleanliness.

She’ll follow all of this with Cure’s Aqua Gel Exfoliator, which she rubs into her cheeks and lips in circular motions. She likes to exfoliate sparingly so as not to irritate the skin. For acne-targeting, she uses Peach Slices’ Acne Exfoliating Toner to help accelerate the cycle of her breakouts. And she’ll top off any blemishes with the popular Starface Hydro-Stars, pimple stickers containing salicylic acid to help zap pimples overnight.
