Chloe and Halle Bailey appear as luminous in real life as you might imagine. Their harmonious voices are soft yet assured, and even after being trapped in a freight elevator for an unconfirmed amount of time, the sisterly duo’s presence during their interview with BAZAAR.com is still extremely calming. When you’ve been in the industry as long as they have, learning to ride the ups and downs (in this instance, quite literally) comes with the territory. But as it pertains to their personal style, the duo would be the first to say that despite all the looks they’ve churned out for the ‘gram, they’re still figuring it all out.
“I think we’re learning that we should always be comfortable no matter what we wear. But sometimes, even I forget that and will be like, ‘I’ll just wear it for a few minutes if it’s cute,” Chloe says before adding, “It’s also about taking risks and making mistakes, or even great decisions, sometimes.” Halle reiterates her sister’s sentiments. “We’re just trying to embrace our skin from the inside out. As I get older, I’m becoming more comfortable in my body and learning to embrace it.”
The pair entered the music scene in 2011 when they started making cover videos on YouTube. Beyoncé then stumbled upon their natural talent. The rest is obviously history, as they have since catapulted to stardom, both together and apart. Now they’re adding the title of designer to their dockets, thanks to their first clothing collection.
Done in collaboration with Victoria’s Secret PINK, the line is ultimately inspired by their sisterhood. Pieces included in the lineup are a reflection of the Grown-ish stars’ busy lifestyles and each of their respective aesthetics. Shoppers can expect cozy and comfortable options, in primarily purple and black, representing royalty and strength.
“To be associated with [a brand] that just really empowers you as a woman and makes you feel good about yourself is something that we really appreciate,” Halle says about the partnership. “It really aligns with our values—collectively trying to make women feel good.”
